Preparing the community with information and resources to be more resilient when a disaster strikes and to provide families/individuals affected by disaster with safety, stability, and a path to self-sufficiency.
According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies disaster is the sudden, calamitous events that seriously disrupts the functioning of our community or society and causes human, material, and economic or environmental losses that exceed the community’s or society’s ability to cope using its own resources.
Disasters are not limited to a clear impact or a single scar left behind once they pass, as we believe them to be in the past. Today disaster increasingly exhume the layers of many of the persistent social, cultural, and economic challenges many in our community face on a daily basis.
FRIEND, Inc. role is to minimize the lack of coordination and haphazard distribution of resources by serving as the information/coordination hub in which community members, community based organizations, faith based organizations, government entities, and any other stakeholder can come together and work as one in the event of a disaster.
Our goal is to prepare the community with information and resources to be more resilient when a disaster strikes and to provide families/individuals affected by disaster with safety, stability, and a path to self-sufficiency.
