Mission Statement:

To provide long-term recovery and mitigation services to South Florida residents affected by disaster by opening doors to services while creating partnerships between the community and those affected by disaster.

Overview:

FRIEND Miami-Dade County Long Term Recovery Group is a Cooperative body made up of representatives from faith based, nonprofit, government, businesses, and other organizations working within a community to assist individuals and families as they recover from disaster.

Our goals are:

  • Enhance collaboration among members of the community and government to develop a system that will enhance the recovery process of our community regardless of where in that recovery process our community may be.
  • Unite recovery resources with community needs in order to ensure that even the most vulnerable in the community recover from disaster.
  • Minimize the lack of coordination and haphazard distribution of resources by serving as the information/coordination hub in which community members, community based organizations, faith based organizations, government entities, and any other stakeholder can come together and work as one in the event of a disaster.
  • Prepare the community with information and resources to be more resilient when a disaster strikes and to provide families/individuals affected by disaster with safety, stability, and a path to self-sufficiency.

Each FRIEND member will maintain its own identity and independence while closely collaborating with other member organizations. FRIEND will foster cooperation among its members at all levels and in all phases of disaster.
